Sahib, Biwi aur Gangster promoted in one of the quickest way possible
The release of Sahib, Biwi aur Gangster is sure to grab some newspaper space as this movie is based on a fine piece of literature and replicates a really good movie - although the director says otherwise.

AMONG THE various promotion strategies of a film, the shortest and the easiest way to catch attention of the audience is to leak some juicy details of the film, and then appear outraged as to why and how the leak happened. When this trend started, initially, even the public felt that the leakage of the end of a film or some sequence was the work of some miscreant over the internet but now, even the public knows better. Whatever a director says or however enraged he seems we somehow know that he is always there behind the antics.

In a world where promotion defines how well a movie would do in the market even the film makers cannot be blamed for the strategies that they undertake. Recently, according to ‘sources’ it was revealed that Mahie Gill (the Dev D girl) got drunk on the sets of Sahib Biwi aur Gangster. The film is inspired by the novel of Bimal Roy, and one of Guru Dutt’s greatest work, Saheb Biwi Aur Gulam, and Mahie Gill would be seen in the character of youngest bride, if the story of the movie replicates the book. However, Mahie Gill had to drown quite a few pints of vodka, and that is what she precisely did to get into the character but the Paro of Dev D couldn’t handle it.

After taking permission to drink, Mahie drank more to pass time but soon the day’s shooting had to be wrapped because she was quite high by the time everyone else was ready for her. Later, the actress felt guilty for her behaviour, and flew back from Gujarat to Mumbai after which the Director, Tigmanshu Dhulia, had to convince her that these things happen and that everything is fine and no one is angry.

The film is awaiting a September 30 release and it revolves around a nawab, his begum and a gangster. Since it is inspured by a Guru dutt’s movie, the filmmaker has decided to plan a special pre- release preview of the movie for Guru Dutt’s family. If the director is to be believed then nothing other than part of the name is borrowed from Guru Dutt’s Sahib, Biwi Aur Gulam. Since the release date of the movie is quite near, stories of these kinds are sure to invoke interest among the audience.
