BOLLYWOOD ACTOR Saif Ali Khan will be crowned as "Nawab of Pataudi" today in Pataudi Palace in Pataudi village, about 25 kilometers from Gurgaon in Haryana. The 41-year-old Chote Nawab will be crowned as the tenth Nawab of Pataudi riyasat. However, the title like Nawab or Maharaja, ceased to be recognised by the Indian government in 1971, and such titles are not recognised anymore. Pataudi has been ruled by Saif's forefathers since the early 19th century.
Bollywood mega star Saif Ali Khan's father and the former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who died on September 22, fighting a chronic lung infection, was the last Nawab of the Pataudi riyasat from 1952 to 1971.
Earlier, Saif Ali Khan said in an interview that he would like to remember his father as the last Nawab of Pataudi, but for the sentiment of the villagers, he will receive the title after tying the pagdi.
