Saina Nehwal defeated in the semi-final but still in race for a bronze
Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal lost to the top-seeded Yihan Wang of China in the semi-final of the Olympic Games.

SAINA, THE first Indian to reach the Olympic semi-final in badniton, suffered defeat in straight games 13-21 and 13-21 at the hands of Yihan.

However, in the semifinal that lasted 42 minutes, Indian supporters came in good numbers to cheer up Saina.

Saina is still in the race for an Olympic bronze. Her next match will be against another Chinese player Xin Wang, But the fight is going to be tough when Saina will play the world No 2 Chinese in the play-off on Saturday.

Wang Yihan is the badminton player from China and current women's singles world champion who started playing the game from an age of nine years. She was selected for the Chinese junior team in 2004 and senior team in 2006. 

It was in 2009 that Yihan became top ranked women's singles player in the world and had been twice Olympic gold medalist.
