INDIA'S TOP Badminton player, Saina Nehwal has reached the quarter finals of the World Championships at Wembley Arena in London. She defeated Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong as the player retired in the second set when the score read 21-3, 13-5, in favour of the Indian player. The Hong Kong player seemed to have suffered an ankle injury, which made it impossible for her to continue the match. Saina would be playing the winner of the match between Wang Xin and Petya Nedelcheva from Bulgaria.
The World no. 6 ranked player, Saina is very eager to win this tournament as she has not had a consistent season according to her standards.
There was a spring in her stride from the 1st point of the game. She was very comfortable in the court as she was displaying her array of shots to the crowd that was present in the stadium. Her coach, Pullela Gopichand was very pleased with the way Saina played during the match and called it to be an ‘impressive’ one. Her real test lies in her next match, where she might meet the Chinese player, Wang Xin in the quarter finals of the Championship.
