Saina Nehwal has reached the finals of the Indonesian Open 2011. She defeated Shao Chieh Cheng in the semi finals. She will face Yihan Wang from China in the finals of the competition.
AFTER A disappointing season Saina Nehwal, the top ranked Indian in the badminton circuit has managed to reach the finals of the Indonesian Open. She is scheduled to meet a Chinese player, Yihan Wang, in the finals. Saina defeated a Chinese Taipei player, Shao Chieh Cheng, in a match that was played over 3 sets en route to the finals. She turned victorious with a score line of 21-14, 14-21 and 21-17.
The match lasted for around 45 minutes. Saina also managed to take revenge upon the player, Shao Chieh Cheng, who ousted her from the Singapore open 2011 some days back. The semi finals clash in Jakarta proved to be very competitive as both the players fought till the end of the match. The match witnessed several smashes which landed as winners on the court. Saina played out an aggressive game against the Chinese Taipei player, which helped Saina in defeating her.Saina’s confidence must be sky high as she defeated an in-form player of the tournament who defeated the top seed of the tournament, Shixian Wang, in the initial rounds. The route to the finals was made easier by the top seed’s exit from the competition. Since then, the fourth seeded Indian has been one of the favourites to lift the title.Fans across India will have their fingers crossed when Saina plays in the finals of the Indonesian Open tomorrow.
