Sakori.Org: Job portal for aspirants
In a bid top help the aspirants from Assam and North East, 'Sakori.Org', started in June 2010, is a voluntary, non-profit website. The job listings are aggregated from various sources including company websites, job sites, newspapers etc.
THE INFORMATION Communication Technology is enhancing the fast moving society in today’s world. Getting good placement for aspirants is must for a healthy future. There are many job portals especially for the job aspirants. Young people or recent graduate mostly rely of newspaper advertisements to get updated with new openings. Though there are many sites for jobs but they have less listing for the openings of jobs in Assam or North East. In a bid top help the aspirants from Assam and North East, ‘Sakori.Org’, started in June 2010, is a voluntary, non-profit website. The job listings are aggregated from various sources including company websites, job sites, newspapers etc. With more than 100 visits per day, it has become a popular visited non-news site of the North East.

“Sakori.Org is a voluntary initiative from a group of individuals, based in and outside Assam, who are trying to remove the information asymmetry with regards to jobs in Assam and the North East”, says Satyakam Dutta, the founder of Sakori.Org and an ex-student of IIT Bombay.

In its first month of operation, Sakori.Org has listed more than 75 job postings for more than 200 vacancies. The jobs are categorises as: Medical, Government, NGO, Engineering, Academic etc. People can apply for the jobs by contacting the companies through phone or email, mentioned in the job postings. Talking about Sakori.Org's future plans, Buljit Buragohain from IIT Guwahati, says, "We are planning to form a network of colleges in Assam and provide them content for their wall-magazines and notice boards related to career and job information.”
