Salient points of Narendra Modi's extempore Independence Day address
Breaking from tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an extempore speech as his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort that enlisted massive public participation in which he called himself as the Chief Servant or Pradhan Sevak of the nation and not the Prime Minister or Pradhan Mantri of India.
Instilling the spirit the patriotism, he urged people to walk together, think together, and work together to take the nation ahead together. He subscribed for 'Jan Bhagidari' or people's participation in governance to take everyone together.

He made the following salient points as I could gather after listening to his speech:

He stressed the need for the government departments to work as an organic unity and not an assorted assemblage and said that the E-Governance was easy governance, as wells as effective governance. He expressed his intention of making the country 'Digital India' with e-governance.

He made an impassioned appeal against female feoticide and redress the skewed sex ratio and work for gender equity. He reminded people that the daughters of the nation had contributed significantly to the progress of the country and needed to be treated with respect.

He appealed people to shun violence and promote brotherhood. He said that instead of a gun on the shoulders, it was better to replace it with a plough to turn the land green instead of red. He reminded people the true meaning of the slogan given by Lal Bahadur Shashtri 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan'

He also talked about certain projects and ideas like Jan Dhan Yojana, skill education, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana for creation of model villages, zero-defect production , clean India, toilets in schools, restructuring of Planning Commission, and poverty removal.
