Salman Khan's 'Sultan' sets new box office record
A fresh box office record has been created with the release of Salman Khan's 'Sultan'. The film starring Salman and Anushka Sharma was released on Wednesday and became the highest grosser of 2016, with the opening day collection of Rs. 36.54 crore. It is the third highest of all time.
Notably the film was released on a partial holiday, still it manages to gain over Rs.36.54 crore at the domestic box office. With becoming the biggest opener of 2016, "Sultan" also became the biggest Eid grosser of all time.

The film shattered the records of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chennai Express,' 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan,' Salman's earlier flick 'Kick,' and 'Ek Tha Tiger.'







Despite partial Eid holiday, 'Sultan' opened to pleasing crowd across the country. The film saw about 90 to 100 per cent occupancy at various cinemas halls. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, "Sultan" was released in 5,450 screens globally on July 6.

The film that is made on a budget of Rs.90 crore, also stars Randeep Hooda, Kumud Mishra and Amit Sadh in significant roles.
