The fashion show organised by Sanjana Jon, sister of jailed designer Anand Jon, was a sucess and saw many bollywood celebrities walking the ramp with their siblings, in solidarity with the jailed designer. The success was later marred by a stampede.
THE MUCH awaited Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week hogged the limelight, even before its inauguration. The reason for this was not the usual glamour, associated with the event, but jailed fashion designer Anand Jon’s sister’s fashion show, entitled “Fashion With a Heart” .
The show was organised to present solidarity with Anand Jon, who has been convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse and child molestation. His sister Sanjana has convinced many Bollywood celebrities to walk the ramp with their siblings. The show ended up being a hit on Sunday, October 25.
The fashion had many people from the world of cinema and sports as participants. Salman Khan with brother Sohail, former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen with brother Rajiv Sen, actress sisters Riya and Raima Sen, young Sarod maestros Amman Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan and singer Shivani Kashyap graced the ramp. The show also saw Olympian bronze medallist, pugilist Vijender Singh walk the ramp among many other celebrities.
Things went nicely and the audience enjoyed every moment of the show. In the press conference after the show, Sanjana Jon was asked numerous queries by the reporters related to the idea and the importance of the show and she described the show as a landmark to pay tribute to her jailed brother.
However, it soon became a disappointment, as it turned into a stampede. The cause of this stampede turned out to be Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who had also graced the ramp for the show. Everyone present in the conference wanted to get a glimpse of the actor and struggled to quiz him.
Jon, who had been sentenced in August, has been imprisoned for 59 years, after a Los Angeles court found him guilty of raping, harassing and molesting several of his models. Many big names from the world of cinema and socialites have expressed their support for the designer the world over.
