Salman's does magic with Bodyguard again
The makers of Bodyguard are positive that the film will give them profits in the very first week. With 22 crore rupees in their kitty, it won't be a surprise if they actually garner as much as 100 crores in the first week.
BODYGUARD BECAME a household name because of Salman Kahn, so much so that even New York Times couldn’t ignore it. With 22 crore made on the first day of release, this is quite understandable. The New York Times has drawn a similarity between ‘barrel-chested Lovely Singh and Jason Statham’s “Transporter” movies.’
The lack of story and the over dose of the emotional drama in this film has been drawn attention to by the New York Times with the words, “A twist near the end sends this contrived movie into a maudlin stratosphere from which it doesn’t recover.” As it is no secret, Bodyguard became a hit because of the amazing fan base that Salman Khan has all over the world.
The chief strategy and marketing officer, Reliance Entertainment, was pleased with the business (who wouldn’t) and said, “The response to the film has been amazing. We had estimated the collection to be Rs.20 crore on the first day and it went on to be Rs 21.5-22 crore net, which are phenomenal figures for the first day.” This was just the collection figure of the Indian market as they were yet to get overseas collectuion figure. The film that released on Eid was made on a budget of 60 crores and has good songs, a broad chested Salman protecting the Bollywood damsel Kareena and a love story. Predictable to the core, this movie is not for people who love to watch some creatively made films or movies that make a difference. It is pure enetertainment for those who worship the very grounds on which Salman Khan walks. The remake of the Malayam film of the same name, Bodyguard is expected to cross the 100 crore mark in the very first week of its release. Yogesh Raizada, of Waves Cinemas talks about the reaction of the people and says, “It's a complete Salman Khan with lots of action and some comedy. People are enjoying the film. On the first day, the occupancy was around 80 to 90 percent in the suburbs and in the NCR region. We hope an equally good response over the weekend.”
