Samar Sarani Sarbojonin wants to be the epitome of humanity
'Samar sarani beye, Anondogaan geye', is the catchphrase of Samar Sarani Sarbojonin Durgotsav, the first women empowered Durga Puja of North Kolkata.

Incontrovertibly, they can use the phrase as they struggled a lot to descant the song of bliss. For the last 19 years since 2000, this puja is under the cordial surveillance of an all women committee. As a whole, this is the 55th year of their commemoration of Durga Puja.

From the stage of incipiency, awakening to immersion has been done by the women of the locality. Joint-Secretary Pyali Bose and Purbasha Das have been administering the puja in a thriving manner from the last year with the active concern of over hundred women. With everyone's effectual involvement, this puja turns a house-hold solemnity.

Very significantly the members of the committee systematically save some money every month throughout the year as per their ability, keeping this puja in their mind. Like a joint-family this women driven puja committee also hosts some cultural and social activities throughout the year.

Purbasha Das, joint-secretary of Samar Sarani Sarbojonin said, "As I with Pyali di have been preserving the duty as secretaries but this puja belongs to our every member. We are really chuffed to police, administration and West Bengal government for their thoroughgoing and extensive support towards us. Last year we have endeavoured to feed some distressed soul at Dum Dum Junction station from our limited affordability. This year too we want to spread some felicity to the people in need. We think Samar Sarani Sarbojonin then will triumph again."
