Sangma has every right to approach Supreme Court against Prez Polls: Political Analysts
The Presidential candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) PA Sangama has challenged the election of President Pranab Mukherjee in Supereme Court. In the recently concluded Presidential elections UPA candidate Pranab had an easy victory over Sangama to become the country's 13th President.

POLITICAL ANALYSTS say that PA Sangma has the constitutional right to approach the Supreme Court as he was not satisfied with the selection procedure from day one of the President poll.

“Sangma's move is legally and constitutionally right. It cannot be predicted what would be the court's decision but Sangma's case is strong as he claims to have proofs with him. Supreme Court may cancel the election of Pranab Mukherjee as President if it founds claims by the Sangma true,” Vishnu Gupt, Political Analyst told this Citizen Journalist .

In his petition, PA Sangama said that Pranab Mukherjee was holding office of profit while filing the nomination papers. Notably, Mukherjee was chairman of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata when he entered into the Presidential race. Sangma has also claimed in his petition that during the election process, Mukherjee was also the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha.

“Sangma has every right to file the petition as he feels there are flaws in the selection procedure of President Pranab Mukherjee. He is just exercising his rights as a candidate and a citizen,” Dr. Prem Singh, General Secretary, Socialist Party (India), told this citizen journalist.

NDA's Presidential candidate Sangma has demanded that the Presidential results should be declared null and void. Sangama wants himself to be declared the Indian President. President Pranab Mukherjee has also filed caveat in the case seeking a copy of the petition against him.
