Indian Lawn Tennis star, Sania Mirza, who is paired alongside Cara Black in the ongoing BNB Paribas Open has reached the finals of the competition after defeating the eighth seeded pair of Czech Lucie Hradecka and Chinese Jie Zheng. The score read 6-4, 3-6 and 10-7.
The Indo-Zimbabwean pair played some great tennis in the first set, but their opponent outplayed them in the second half, hence the third set turned out to be a decider. It was in the third set, which saw a see-saw battle, but it was the Indo-Zimbabwean pair, which turned victorious after their terrific display.
When the duo plays in the finals of the competition, it is rest assured that they are going to be a tired unit, after their marathon third set. But, still it should not deter the pair to give it their all for the final.
Their opponents for the finals has not been finalised as the other semi-finals between Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei and Chinese Shuai Peng and the wild card pair of Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia and Samantha Stosur of Australia is yet to be played.
Sania Mirza has a good record in the BNB Paribas Open. Mirza's best performance has been in 2011, where she won the title partnering Elena Versina. Partnering the same player, Mirza finished runners up in 2012 as well. If she turns out to be victorious this year, it would be her second BNB Paribas Open title.
