India's Sania Mirza, along with her mixed doubles Romanian partner Horia Tecau defeated the Australian pairing of Jarmilia Gajdosova and Matthew Ebden to reach the finals of the mixed doubles competition in the Australian Open. The score read 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 with the game stretching for an hour and 13 minutes.
One has to give credit with the way, the Indo-Romanian pair came back into the match after their loss in the first set. Sania and her partner were outplayed in the first set. They showed great composure in the second and third set, helping them defeat the home team, who were egged on by their supporters.
With Sania's powerful game from the baseline as well as her improved service game, the pair has looked good with every passing game. En route to the finals, they have looked in fine shape and would like to continue with the same in the finals as well.
The Indo-Romanian pair will face the winner of the other semi-final between Sino-American pair of Jie Zheng and Scott Lipsky and the French-Canadian combination of Kristina Mladenovic and Daniel Nestor. Irrespective of the opponent, they face in the finals, the Indo-Romanian pair have won many a heart with their spirited display and if they can maintain the form they resembled in their semi-final encounter, a mouth watering clash awaits us in the finals of the mixed doubles competition.
