Sanjay Dutt to surrender in TADA court tomorrow
No one would want to be in actor Sanjay Dutt's shoes. The helplessness of being wealthy and to not have enough power to escape jail must be depressing, to say the least. By the way the actor and his legal representatives are behaving, even they are confused as to what step they can take to escape some jail time.

May 16 is just around the corner and Dutt has initially filed a plea to surrender in Yerwada jail, Pune, but later he withdrew the plea to surrender in Mumbai TADA court itself.

Dutt wanted to surrender in Pune due to the danger to his life from "from vested interests and other fundamentalist groups and organizations". While this holds little water, the actor was also apprehensive about the media interest in his case. Dutt, who was convicted under the Arms Act in Mumbai serial blasts has already served 18 months in prison during the trial, and has to undergo a jail term of three-and-a-half years, reported The Times of India.

Initially, when he was jailed, he was a carpenter (in jail) and even fashioned a chair. This time, he might be assigned the job of a cook. Inspite of a huge bank balance, the actor will earn Rs. 25 each day and his family member would be able to give him Rs. 1500 each month. Five family members would be allowed to meet him each month for 20 minutes.

Sanjay Dutt received a lot of support from the film fraternity when he got his sentence barring a few (read Nana Patekar). So much so that a Bollywood producer appealed in the apex court to postpone his date of surrender. Unfortunately, this plea was rejected by the Supreme Court. The actor tried to complete as many of his commitments as he could in the short time that he got and even created a record of being the first Bollywood actor to dub a movie in three hours. Tomorrow would be an emotional day for the Dutt family as the actor would start his new life.
