Santonio Holmes, Steelers Receiver accused of assault
Santonio Holmes, former Super Bowl MVP, has been accused of assaulting Anshonoe Mills, the plaintiff in this civil lawsuit in Florida. She claimed Holmes ordered her to get off a couch in the Rain Night Club, after which he threw his glass at her.

ALLEGATIONS AGAINST members of Pittsburgh Steelers are on the rise, with a Steelers player accused of allegedly assaulting a woman. Pittsburgh Steelers wide reciever Santonio Holmes has been accused of throwing his drink at a woman in a nightclub and is facing a civil lawsuit in the matter.

Santonio Holmes, who is also a former Super Bowl MVP, has been accused of throwing his drink on Anshonoe Mills, the plaintiff in this civil lawsuit in Florida. She has accused the player of ordering her to get off a couch in the Rain Night Club, after which he threw his glass at her and cut her near her eye. The incident occurred on March 7.

Santonio Holmes has denied the matter altogether and expects it to be over quickly. In an interview he said, "(The case) will be taken care of quickly, within the next 24 hours." When asked further about the case he said, "I really don't have much to say about it because I didn't do anything. My lawyer is handling it from here."

Ashnoe Mills has also claimed that the player tried to buy her off and the Orlando police did not make a report, when she went to do so. She told the court, as per an official court report,"[Holmes] proceeded to inform the plaintiff that he was an NFL football player and that he could not face criminal charges. Subsequently, [Holmes] offered to give the plaintiff money because he was an NFL star and could not get into trouble."

He is the second Pittsburgh Steelers player who has been accused of assault after teammate Ben Roethlisberger, was accused of sexual assault on March 5. Like Roethlisberger, Holmes has also not been charged in the matter, though investigations continue on both cases.
