REPUBLICAN LEADER Sarah Palin's front page photo on the Newsweek has sparked a controversy with Palin herself saying that this was an out of context cover and sexist. This photo of Sarah Palin shows her in running short's and it was published in August 2009 issue of Runners World.
Palin was particularly unhappy with the manner in which Newsweek has used a picture from an article about health to promote an article on her political relevance. Sarah Palin has been quoted on her Facebook page as saying :
The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context.
The issue has raised controversy as several people have objected to the use of an out of context photo.
A visitor on Sarah Palin's Facebook page writes : “I once considered Newsweek a level source for acurate news, guess i was wrong. Not only is the picture inappropriate, but the headlines draw assumptions from their own disolusions. Sorry you have to go through this, but everyone the liberals feel is a viable threat will be treated this way. Keep you're chin up and keep fighting, you will win in the end. The good guys always do.”
