Sarfaraz Khan gets record 439 runs in Harris Shield
Sarfaraz Khab faced 421 balls and hit 12 sixes and 56 fours, in the Harris Shield Tournament in Mumbai. He broke the 23 years old record set by Sanjeev Jadhav of Shardashram Vidyamandir in 1986, who had scored 422 runs.
TWELVE YEAR old Sarfaraz Khan, a class VI student from Springfield Rizvi in Mumbai, created history in the 113 years of school cricket in Mumbai. Khan scored 439 runs against Indian Education Society in the U-16 inter school Harris Shield three-day match on Wednesday, November 4.
The child prodigy faced 421 balls and hit 12 sixes and 56 fours. He broke the 23 years old record set by Sanjeev Jadhav of Shardashram Vidyamandir in 1986, who scored 422 runs.
The Harris Shield is the same tournament that launched Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and other Mumbai cricketers. Two cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar with 329 and Vinod Kambli with 349, rank among the top ten in the tournament's history. Springfield Rizvi's total of 750-9 declared in 122 overs was a notch higher than what Tendulkar and Kambli's alma mater team, Shardashram Vidyamandir amassed (748-2 in 120 overs).
Now cricket gurus have started claiming that Sarfaraz Khan is the next Sachin Tendulkar. There are lot of cricket opportunities ready for Khan and now he must set a milestone for his career. He must concentrate on cricket and work hard, so that he remains in the eye of the selectors. Who knows, ion a few years, he might take up Sachin's position in the national team.

Breaking many lofty previous records by a superb batting performance, little Sarfaraz Khan has made us Indians proud. A great future lies ahead for this promising teenage master. It seems there is another Tendulkar in the making for cricket-crazy India.
