A new restaurant has come up at Attari border to bridge the gap between India and Pakistan, which were once part of undivided India. Besides serving delicacies of Lahore to Indians, it also offers a wide range of Indian cuisine to Pakistanis.
BORDERS CAN physically separate people but they can't force people to change their tastes for various dishes. A restaurant named Sarhad (Urdu word for border) near the Attari border has been bringing Indians and pakistanis closer by serving them the foods of their taste.
It serves delicacies of Lahore to Indians and a wide range of Indian cuisine to Pakistanis. There is a popular saying in hindi, 'he who has not seen Lahore has not actually been born,' but now with this restaurant, people of both sides will come closer as food binds a lot of people together. This is going to be one place where Indians, literally speaking get a taste of Lahore.
Aman Kumar, the owner of the restaurant told NNIS, “Lahori Thali is the mixture of different parts of prominent dishes of Pakistan. They have made it in the whole Lahori style. It includes Karachi halwa and mutton.” Kumar, the man behind this unique restaurant claims to have a variety of foods and is sure that it will bring the two countries together.
A satisfied customer when asked said that when he had the Lahori thali, he actually felt that he was in Lahore having his favourite dishes from the place.
