Kiran Kumar Reddy failed to win confidence of his own cabinet colleagues, unable to maintain working relations with the Pradesh Congress Committee and also under his regime the government machinery practically was not moving ahead. Moreover, his alleged cordial relations with the revolted Congress leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who had formed a new regional party in the name of his father YSR Congress Party and determined to destabilize the Congress government in the state, making the Congress high command to choose an assertive Chief Minister, who can meet challenges that the party is now facing in the state.
Sashidhar Reddy, who is now enjoying status of union cabinet minister, is all set to head the government in the state and according to sources, Sonia Gandhi has already indicated her choice to him. According sources close to AICC, Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to be asked to submit his resignation to the Governor on November 14 and on the same day the state legislature party will be convened to elect his successor.
As usual practice, the legislature party will authorize party chief Sonia Gandhi to chose successor and she will nominate Sashidhar Reddy, who is likely to form government on November 15. In the recent expansion of central cabinet, AP was given large share by giving place to five more MPs, thus providing place for as many as 11 MPs from the state, the largest number for any state.
Atleast four of five new ministers who joined the union cabinet were suggested by Sashidhar Reddy. He is the only leader from the state Sonia Gandhi consulted before changes in the union cabinet. According to sources, he has already prepared a list of names to be included in his cabinet with an view to give a new face to the party. Most of the ministers facing corruption allegations and said to be close to Jaganmohan Reddy are likely to be left out from the new cabinet.
