Sathya Sai Baba is no more
Spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba passed away on Sunday morning due to prolonged illness. His death has caused deep anguish to his followers, who are spread across the world.
SPIRITUAL LEADER Sathya Sai Baba, who has a cult following across the world died on Sunday (April 24) morning due to cardiac and respiratory failure. Sai Baba was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of Sathya Sai Baba Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi for the last several days as he suffered multiple organ failure and was on ventilator support.
 
A statement from the hospital said that Sathya Sai Baba passed away at 7.40 am due to cardiac and respiratory failure after a prolonged illness. Sai Baba was 85. He had been admitted to the hospital since March 27 and all eyes were glued on reports concerning his health since then.
 
The entire town of Puttaparthi as well the legion of his followers, across the world plunged into grief as soon as the news of his death was broken on Sunday morning.
 
The state of Andhra Pradesh has declared a four-day state mourning after the death of Sai Baba, as leaders across political spectrum came forward to pay their tributes to the godman. The last rites of Sathya Sai Baba will be performed with full state honours and he will be buried at the Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanti Nilayam on Wednesday morning.
 
Andhra Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy recalled the great deal of humanitarian work and services rendered by Sai Baba, which have touched the lives of people in myriad ways. Reddy said Sai Baba is a symbol of love, affection and humanity and his work resonates across the world, adding that he will be remembered for long time to come.
