IN LESS THAN a month, we have witnessed the transit of four major planets — Rahu, Ketu, Jupiter and Saturn. We have already discussed three transits and now it is time to look into the most significant one — that of Saturn or Shani. Saturn normally stays in a particular sign for two-and-a-half years and completes its cycle through the 12 signs in about 30 years. The long stay of two-and-a-half years is one of the reasons why the transit is of so much significance. The other reason being that it is — as per convenience of some astrologers — treated as a hardcore malefic out to harm you in every possible way! Any individual running the periods of Sadhe Saati, Dhaiyya or Ashtam Shani is right away scared out of his wits and made to believe that doom is just knocking at the door! Sadhe Saati is nothing but the transit of Saturn through the twelfth, first and second house from your moon sign, spanning seven and a half years. This would mean that we spend almost 12-and-a-half years in abject misery in any given span of 30 years. And, then the whole process starts again with the onset of the new Saturn cycle. Saturn is essentially the planet of justice. Saturn has transited from Moon-ruled Cancer to Sun ruled Leo on November 1, 2006. Right now, even though Saturn has entered Leo, it moves back to Cancer in January 2007 and resumes its position in Leo only in the month of July 2007 and stays there till September 2009. The areas represented by the sign Leo, as per your Rashi (natal moon sign), require more attention from you during this transit.
