Satyagraha, not a sequel to Aarakshan: Prakash Jha
Director Prakash Jha's soon to be released Satyagraha is already making noise due to an impressive star cast and its subject i.e. protests in India. Amitabh Bachchan is protagonist of the film, which also has Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the star list.
While speaking to ANI, Prakash Jha recalls the inception of the idea and says, “It began as a concept 2-3 years back, while I was still shooting Rajneeti. At that point of time, I only had an idea and I started taking notes, working towards finding a story and after I finished my film Aarakshan, I had a story in mind.”
The director of the films like Gangajal, Apharan was quite clear that Satyagraha is not a sequel to Aarakshan. Although this movie is also multidimensional and has a multi star cast but it is closer in structure to Rajneeti.”
Jha added,“Aarakshan was about a particular issue. This is about a wider issue, which people call as a season of protest. It is happening all over the world. As we were working on the script, things were happening all around the world- wall street, Brazil, Bangladesh or Anna Hazare's movement.”
Although many anticipates that the movie is inspired by the Anna Hazare movement, the director refrained from it. While speaking about the various protests in general he pointed out, “Eventually, a protest has to be non-violent because a violent protest will beget more violence and that is not going to be a solution. The solution will always come through non violence.”
