Satyajit Ray remembered on his 92nd birthday by Google Doodle
All the film buffs are sure to love what Google had done for Satyajit Ray's 92nd birthday - make a doodle of the famous Pather Panchali film, in which Apu and Durga are seen running in a field of Kash flowers. It is one of the most memorable scenes and the most talked about in the Apu triology.

It was Satyajit Ray's first film and a masterpiece that announced to the world his brilliance. The black and white doodle beautifully captures the emotion of the children as they were in the film.

It was the first shot that Ray took for his film that would later impact an entire generation and influence many more film students. The film went on to win eleven international prizes, including Best Human Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival, reported the Zee News website.

There is an interesting anecdote for the particular scene that Google picked up as its doodle. While Satyajit Ray was shooting for the film, the first time they went to the field of Kash, they were in full bloom and they shot what they required. However, being a perfectionist, he was not happy with the shot and wanted to shoot it again only to discover that the flowers had been eaten away by cattle. He waited one full season to re-shoot the scene.

Satyajit Ray was known as one of the great  auteur directors and in his lifetime he directed 36 films, which included feature films, documentaries and short films. Ray was born on May 2, 1921 in Calcutta in a Bengali family, prominent in the world of arts and literature. His father, Sukumar Roy, is still regarded as one of the best poets to write children's literature. Satyajit Ray also created his own space in children's world by giving birth to one of the most loved Bengali detectives 'Feluda'. Satyajit Ray would be immortal for many of us but today's Google Doodle has ensured that he is remembered by many more on his birthday.
