Saudi Arabia experiences snowfall
The deserts of Saudi Arabia were covered in a white layer as the country experienced snowfall in an unlikely event on Tuesday after temperatures dropped below zero degree Celsius in central and northwestern regions of the country.

The below-freezing temperatures allowed for an usual sight after a blanket of snow covered the desert regions. The temperatures dipped down to as low as - 3 degree Celsius. According to the Saudi Gazette, temperatures reached -3 degree Celcius in the Al-Jawf region and -1 degree Celcius in the northern province of Al-Quryat.

Mid-October is generally the rainfall season in Saudi Arabia, but they are still experiencing light to medium showers this year. Authorities have issued advisories to drivers as they are not used to snow-covered roads.

Saudis have made sure that they make the most of this rare opportunity, playing with snow and making snowmen.

Professor Abdallah al-Musanad, professor of climate science at Qassim University, told, " this is 'the second rainfall this season,' even though 40 days have passed since the end of rain season. In April last year, 18 people were killed throughout Saudi Arabia because of floods following heavy rain.
