Save a child with just two drops
Polio has been one of the worrying causes in India. Although the number of polio infected children in India has been reduced considerably over the years, yet even one case is a cause of worry for the Government.

POLIO OR Poliomyelitis is on the rise again in various parts of the world. Pakistan, China and Afghanistan have seen a rise in the number of this virus that affects the nervous system of an individual. With four new cases in China, the Indian government has tightened its various programmes in the border areas so that children below the stipulated 5 years have the required dose. The health ministry has also made it compulsory for the children entering India from the border areas to be administered with polio drops.

Punjab that has been polio-free since 2009, and has already set up polio vaccination booths at the Wagah border and the Attari railway station in Amritsar district, according to reports. India is one of the few polio-endemic countries left in the world. Although a number of successful measures have been undertaken by the Indian government to correct the situation, polio cases do sprout up at various places.

The government of India has set up various polio booths in and around India to eradicate the disease that affects the children and paralyses them for life. The ‘do boond zindagi,’ is one of the widely popular advertisements that urge people to get the two drops of life saving drug. Cases of the same have declined to 42 in 2010 from 741 in 2009. The good news is that in 2011 only 1 case of polio was reported in Howrah. But the latest development in China with four cases is worrying India.

Every single case of polio, in India, is treated as an emergency case and this is the precise reason as to why the spread of this virus has been controlled. However, people should be aware that since polio is still there and can harm a child below the age of five - if they are not administered with the drug. People, do not neglect this small duty towards your child as two drops can rightfully give them a better and healthy life.
