Say no to casteism
An evil practice of casteism which stole away the basic living rights of millions, forced humans to practice inhumanity, which is an 'enemy' to 'love and brotherhood' will now be given recognition in our census in the so-called modern India.
IS INDIA developing or is it going backwards? The answer would be clearer when we come face to face with the shocking fact that our government is going to conduct a caste based census in 2011. Casteism, which is an evil practice which stole away the basic living rights of millions, forced humans to practice inhumanity, which is an 'enemy' of 'love and brotherhood' will now be given recognition in our census.
The very practice against which the greatest of our country's social reformers -Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Kabeer, Tulsidas, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Ram Krishna Paramhans, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedakar, and others fought to eradicate is still flourishing today in so- called 'modern India'.
How we can differentiate people on the basis of their caste. Nature has made no differentiation and developed everyone unbiased.
We the citizens and the youth of India need to break free from these social ties which are a shame in the face of humanity!
The last caste based census was conducted by the British in pre-independence era to achieve their 'divide and conquer' goals. Is our government trying to do the same? It is important that government should understand the implications of this step and ensure that no further divisions on the basis of caste are created in our society, otherwise the results could be catastrophic.

In the contemporary situation, It appears that the politicians who are at the helm of affairs are serving their vested interest in the name of caste or other Identities . These leaders are not worried about their caste fellow or common man. It appears that there will be demand for states on the basis OF caste-/religious identity ---Braministan, Rajputana , Gujjarstan, Jatistan , Punjabistan, Dalitstan,Baniastan, Ahirwati , Reddistan , Kamastan, Nairstan, Ezvahastan,Lingayatstan. Vokkaligastan and so on in the name of religion or sub-religion, sub -caste or sub regional identities.It is the need of the hour for the RULERS to think and act in the larger perspective by ignoring parochial interests and serve the NATION in true spirit.

The author deserve appreciation for raising the serious and sensitive as well as relevant issue in the present context. In every society or state, people are having expectations from the system. If there is a gap between expectation and achievement leads to frustation which in turns violent. This is what is happening in India .In the larger interest of the nation, it is high time to abolish the reservation on the caste bases.
Communalism broke country in two. Casteism will break it many times more. Churchill statement in British Parliament"All Indian leaders will be of low caliber and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight among themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles?????? seems to be coming true.
