SC gets tougher on Gurgaon schools - need to follow guidelines
An inspection drive of school buses started by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) is giving Gurgaon schools a tough time as schools are required to follow the Supreme Court guidelines. The schools, which do not follow the guidelines would be issued challans.

Apart from the challans, it is more to do with the safety of the children. More than 250 schools have been notified about the 20 norms laid out by the court on the commuting of the school buses.

Anita Makkar, Principal of the DAV Public School, Sector 14 told timesofindia.com that the steps taken up by the RTA are in the interest of everyone. Though she has not gone through the letter yet, but she assures that each and every norm will be religiously followed.

Manoj Khatri, Secretary, RTA said, " Last week, we had sent directions mentioning 20 important norms suggested by the SC to school principals and had asked them to send us an assurance before June 20. However, no school has got back to us. We have sent directions again as a final reminder."

He added, "We will start issuing challans. We may also cancel registration of buses."
