FRESH HEARING commenced in the gas dispute between Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani led firms  on Thursday, November 5 in the Supreme Court. This hearing was marked by change in the bench as well as verbal battle between lawyers representing the two sides, who accused each other of changing stands.

The arguments began with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) counsel Harish Salve putting his arguments before a newly constituted bench. He, however, was interrupted by senior Advocate Ram Jethmalani, representing Anil Ambani's Reliance Natural Resources Limited (RNRL), who charged RIL of making arguments, contrary to what were put forth in the Bombay High Court.

Ram Jethmalani sought permission from the newly constituted bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices B Sudershan Reddy and P Sathasivam to make submissions every day for 30 minutes to counter arguments put forth by Mukesh Ambani's firm represented by Harish Salve as they were contrary to what was stated in the High Court.

Jethmalani said that he should be allowed to argue for 10 to 30 minutes at the end of each day to make submissions. This contention was, however, opposed by RIL counsel Salve, who asked the RNRL advocate to stop making interruptions.
