EACH YEAR, on 28th February, National Science Day is observed in India to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C.V.Raman in 1928. He is known fot his work on the molecular scattering of light which is also called a Raman Effect from their name that why he was recognized an Indian physicist and Nobel laureate in physics.
Many events are being organised today by the Department of Science and Technology as well as other institutes related to education and research in science and technology. Visits to science parks and museums are also organised on this day. Science fairs, exhibitions, and special presentation are also held on this day. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat Science Congress, National Science Day celebration and science exhibition are being held as a part of Science Utsav this year to mark the day kicked off on Saturday.
According to Professor Narottam Sahoo, senior scientist at Gujrat Science City here, in the six-day Science Utsav, leading scientists will participate in seminars and workshops with the students."Nearly 10,000 students and visitors will visit the Utsav. It will not only provide them with an opportunity to interact with scientists but also motivate them to choose a career in science," said Professor Sahoo.
