Scientology ministers support Obama's preparedness call
Volunteer Scientology ministers in the US are organising workshops with the police, firefighters and other community organisations, for effective disaster response. These will be held as part of the National Preparedness month.
VOLUNTEER SCIENTOLOGY ministers in the United States are working with the police, firefighters and other community organisations to ready citizens for effective disaster response as part of the National Preparedness Month.
These religious ministers from San Diego to New York are bringing practical and potentially lifesaving information to the general public this month as part of President Obama’s National Preparedness Month. Together with the local police, firefighters and animal protection agencies, the aim is to prepare individuals and communities to better withstand and more rapidly recover from emergencies.
In San Diego, they, in association with Humane Society, Animal Rescue team and Chamber of Commerce, will host a series of workshops for local residents on trauma recovery and protecting pets in disasters. In Los Angeles, they are working with the CountySheriff’s Multi-Faith Clergy Council to aid residents in coping with the wildfires that continue to burn in the area.
In Portland, on Saturday (September 19), they will hold an all-afternoon event at O’Bryant Square, demonstrating techniques developed by L Ron Hubbard, that help victims recover emotionally and physically after an injury or traumatic event. Local firefighters will discuss fire evacuation procedures for home and office. The Portland Police Department will present a “Know Your Neighborhood” seminar and the Office of Emergency Management will provide information on where to go during a major disaster, how to assess and report damage to the command center and how to search buildings, locate and evacuate survivors.
According to Maria Reyher, a Scientology Disaster Response Coordinator in Los Angeles, similar events have been planned throughout September. “The President asked that all Americans work to coordinate local emergency preparedness efforts and this coordination is a very critical element,” she says. “We know that something can be done about any situation. By improving our ability to respond to emergencies widely, we can all be more responsible for the safety and security of ourselves and others.”
Do any of these police, firefighters and other community organisations actually know that Scientology is claiming this? I bet if they were called they'd claim no knowledge of it.
