AFTER LOSING to Liverpool 1-0, Chelsea regained its victory trend by smashing Hull City 3-0 in the Barclays Premier League, played at the Kingston Communications stadium on Wednesday (October 29).

Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Brazilian coach was under pressure for this match as Hull City was gradually turning out as an underdog. But Lampard’s second minute goal put the entire Blue house on fire. Throughout the first half, Chelsea was just one goal ahead of City. But as the second half started, Anelka, the Blues striker doubled the score in the 50th minute, breaking all possible calculations of Phil Brown, the Hull City coach.

The return of Joe Cole obviously rejuvenated the Blues, but Scolari preferred to keep him undettered as he brought Belletti as a substitute for Cole in the 53rd minute. As Boateng repeatedly failed to bring a change, Brown replaced this Dutch striker in the 62nd minute with Halmosi. Garcia, another City striker, was brought to the field as a substitute for Marney in the 71st minute.

Malouda, the French left winger of the Blues scored the third goal in the 75th minute and sealed the victory for the Blues. Scolari also replaced Deco with Kalou in the 78th minute. In the 83rd minute, Brown made the last change to the City squad replacing King with Windass.

Bosingwa was benched in the 86th minute as Scolari placed Ivanovic in the former’s position. Hull City committed no foul throughout the match, while both Deco and Cole were booked with yellow cards by referee A Marriner. Both the teams have already played ten league matches. Chelsea is in the second position with twenty-three points, whereas Hull City has twenty points and ranks fifth.
