There is no smoke without fire.
The great insider of BJP and a Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Katiyar has spoken on the same frequency as Lalu ji's. He said there could be "truth" in Lalu Yadav's allegation that revival of trial against LK Advani in the Babri demolition case is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "conspiracy" to oust the veteran BJP leader from presidential race. "Maybe his (Lalu's) statement has truth to it, don't know," Katiyar told ANI on Thursday. However, Shri Katiyar insisted that the charges against the BJP leaders were baseless.
This watershed decision of Supreme Court has put into net the 'achhe din' of Shri Manohar Joshi and Sadhvi Uma Bharti, Shri Katiyar, Sadhvi Ritambhara and VHP leader Shri Vishnu Hari Dalmia. They now stand accused of allegedly instigating the crowd to demolish the structure through their speeches. They are being tried under IPC sections 153-A and 153-B, 147, 149 and 505. Two other accused in the case, Acharya Giriraj Kishore and Ashok Singhal, have died in July 2014 and November 2015, respectively.
It is the reality that the presidential elections are due in July and though BJP has not yet declared any candidate there was a buzz in the political circles that a section in the party may strongly propose Shri Lal Krishna Advani's name. As Advani ji is longer that 'Blow Hot' as he was in 1990's and after his admiration of Father of Nation of Pakistan, he is now in the 'Blow Cold' act, he has become more acceptable. This time several political parties including some regional leaders were also planning to support the BJP veteran.
"It was the CBI which said that the criminal conspiracy case should be initiated against Advani and others. Now when such an appeal is being made then what else is left to say or do," Lalu Yadav said.
In an anxious huddle at New Delhi, within hours of the Supreme Court placing senior BJP leaders on a joint trial with 'kar sevaks' over the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992, the BJP core committee reacted on predictable lines. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Arun Jaitley, Smt Sushma Swaraj, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, and Shri Nitin Gadkari.
The statement from the party said, "It was decided unanimously that 'the best course of action for BJP leaders is to stand trial and get acquittal.'"
It would be fascinating to watch how the RSS handles the storm – if it is real, and what it does with the stranded jetsam and the flotsam that the Babri tide is going to leave at the political beach.
