Second partial solar eclipse of 2011 on June 1
The partial solar eclipse will begin from northern China and Siberia, then move across the Arctic. This solar eclipse is the second of four partial solar eclipses in 2011.
THE SECOND partial solar eclipse of 2011 will be seen from the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, and begin at 0055 hrs IST on June 2 over Siberia and Northern China. However, this eclipse will not be visible from India.

Near Cheshskaya Bay in far north-west of Russia, the eclipse will be occurring two hours after the eclipse begins its path from Siberia. The partial solar eclipse can be seen from northern Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and portions of northeast Asia.

Solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes between the sun and the earth. The moon blocks the light of the sun and a shadow of the moon is cast over the earth's surface.

In 2011 six eclipses will take place including four partial solar eclipses and two total lunar eclipses. The first partial solar eclipse of the year was on January 4. The next solar eclipse is due tonight. After two weeks, on June 15, total lunar eclipse will take place. Again on July 1, a partial solar eclipse is scheduled to take place.

The fourth and the largest partial solar eclipse of 2011 will occur on November 25, whereas on December 10, the last eclipse of the year, a total lunar eclipse, can be seen.
