Second Test match preview: India Vs Australia
The Indian team looks upbeat after its first Test win against Australia in Chennai, as they reached Hyderabad, where the second Test match is scheduled to be played. The Indian team dominated the first Test match with both the bat and the ball, and they would like to come up with a similar performance in Hyderabad as well.
There are some players in the Indian team line up, who are in good form such as Virat Kohli
, Sachin Tendulkar
, Ravichandran Ashwin along with skipper MS Dhoni
has been facing a major problem in the opening slot with Virender Sehwag
not clicking with the willow. There is a serious need for the Delhi
lad to deliver the goods, as his place may come into question, if another failure is witnessed in the Hyderabad
Test match. His partner Murli Vijay also did not look comfortable while facing the Australian quickies, so it should not come up as a surprise, if either Shikhar Dhawan or Ajinkya Rahane opens the innings with Sehwag.
In the bowling department, the Indian thinktank might be tempted to rope in Pragyan Ojha into the starting eleven replacing Harbhajan Singh, who has had an unimpressive 100th Test match at Chennai. While on the other hand, Jadeza and Ashwin have bowled well to retain their places, especially the latter, who claimed 12 wickets. With the Aussies facing problems against the Indian spinners , Ojha looks a huge probability to strengthen the Indian spin attack.
But one can never take anything for granted against the Australians as the team comprises of a number of players, who can turn the game on their head such as Mitchell Starc, Pattinson, Watson, Clarke, Warner just to name a few. But their best bowler in the first Test match, James Pattinson seems likely to miss out for the second Test match, due to some injury concerns. It can be a huge set back for the Australians, if they fail to do so.
The Australians need to show more character in the second Test match, especially the batsmen, who will play an important role. Their best way to put pressure on the Indian team is by putting up a good score on the board and hope their bowlers deliver the goods and help them level the series 1-1.
