THE BODY of 25-year-old second US navy sailor who was captured in eastern Afghanistan last week was recovered in Logar province on Wednesday evening. The Logar province official, Deen Mohammad Darwish said that villagers discovered the US navy sailor Jarod Newlove, who had three bullet wounds.
According to US and Afghan officials, Jarod Newlove, second US navy sailor with another sailor, Justin McNeley, went missing last week in Logar province after leaving a military compound in an armored but unmarked vehicle. McNeley's body was recovered by NATO on Sunday.
According to US military officials, both sailors, Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarod Newlove and Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin McNeley, 30, were assigned to a training school for Afghan security forces. The school was in Kabul and that they were not supposed to be where the body was recovered.
Earlier on Monday, Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesperson said, one American died in a firefight and the other was being held by the group. The Taliban, are active in Logar province of Afghanistan.
However, the body of 30-year-old Justin NcNeley arrived in the U.S. on Tuesday. He was from Wheatridge, Colorado.
