Secunderabad's Rashtrapati Nilayam garden opened for public till January 10
President Pranab Mukherjee has returned to New Delhi after his 10-day annual southern sojourn. He had stayed at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad, that is spread across sprawling 90 acres and now serves as a presidential retreat.
After that, the Gardens at Rashtrapati Nilayam have been opened for public viewing from January 3, 2017 to January 10, 2017 from 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs.

The Gardens of Rashtrapati Nilayam include Landscaped Gardens, Herbal Gardens, Nakshatra Vatika, seasonal flower plants, display of potted plants around the main building and fruit gardens of Mango, Sapota, Pomegranate, Guava, Amla, Coconut and Cheeku, it is informed.

The 16-room Rashtrapati Nilayam estate consists of single storied building besides visitors' quarters that can accommodate 150 people, which also has a dining hall, darbar hall, morning room, cinema hall, etc.

It is said that the unique aspect of this Rashtrapati Nilayam is the kitchen and dining hall unit, which are connected with an underground tunnel to take food.

Also, a Herbal Garden on the estate has the medicinal and aromatic plants including sarpagandha, kalabandha, citronella, lemon grass, khus, geranium, coriander, sandalwood, tuber rose, jasmine, kalmegh, tulsi, etc.
