Sehwag's comeback: BCCI's rescue attempt failed miserably
The dashing opener from India, Virender Sehwag was brought back into the Indian team for the third and the fourth Test match against England, after the Indian team put up a bad show with the willow. The player was not 100 percent fit, but joined the team.

VIRENDER SEHWAG, the Indian opener got injured when he was playing in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils, which had originally put him out of action for the full West Indies tour and the England Test series as well. The player had to undergo a surgery, so his chances of playing in the England Test series were very limited.

The first two Test matches of the English tour saw the Indian team suffering huge defeat at the hands of the English team. The Indian openers were not able to give a good start hence they failed to provide a big platform to the Indian middle order. Gautam Gambhir also got injured, hence the team was in a desperate need of a player who could handle this situation and open the innings. The selectors did not have much option left so they had to get Sehwag back into the squad, though he was not 100 percent fit.

Much was expected from the willow of Vireneder Sehwag, but he made a joke of himself as he failed to open his account in both the innings of the third Test match. He was not moving very well in the field too, which made many people realise that he is not perfectly fit for the match. But the BCCI still made the player play and the results were there for everyone to see.

The selectors thought that Sehwag would walk into the side and blaze away to a hundred and win the match for India. They failed to realise that he is not a run machine; after all he is human too. They rushed him back into the team to save India from further humiliation, but he did not have a magic wand to thrash one of the best bowling sides that is presently playing International cricket. The selectors have put an extra yard of burden on the player as he was seen in uncomfortable position, while batting in the fourth Test match at Oval.

The Delhi south paw has not recovered fully, as he would be flying back to India and miss the ODI series too. Has the BCCI and the selectors put the players career on the line?

He is not the only player, who seemed to have been rushed back from an injury to play the vital Test series in England. Zaheer khan also was unfortunate to break down during the first test match of the series, after he was picked for the tour.

These kinds of injuries are bound to happen and it will take place in the future too as the Indian team has always been playing the most number of Test and ODI matches in a calendar year, making huge revenues. No wonder the Indian team has the richest cricket board in the World, BCCI. Do they not think about the player’s career? Do they only think about money? Are they only interested in business deals? It is time for them to wake up and realise it is the country’s pride that is at stake when the nation puts up such performances in the field. The players do not play under the name of the BCCI, but they play under the name ‘India’. It is time they respect the nation and its players.
