Selective thinking and terror
Sadly there is no termination of the tit-for-tat mindset. Courts will decide the fate of each and every person arrested as terror suspect but till then we have time to think. Do we desire Atifs and Pragyas or Amartya Sens and Kalams?
WHAT IF Rahul Raj had been a Rizan-ur-Rahmaan and hijacked a bus in Ahmadabad instead of Mumbai and said that he wanted to teach Narendra Modi a lesson? Would the leaders from his community have appealed to the Prime Minister for a probe without having to face charges of protecting terrorism? Would the PM have demanded an explanation from the government of Gujarat?

Remember the Batla House case? Everyone raising questions was questioned. People on both the sides were injured. Is it true that Inspector Sharma died at the hospital? It is not about supporting police action in either case; it is about why the logic applied to the Batla House case did not apply to the Mumbai bus case and vice versa.

Every single news channel is saying that Rahul’s killing was not the only option but those who raised such voices in the Batla House case were condemned. Persons like Prof Musheer-ul-Hassan faced questions over integrity because he talked about providing legal assistance to those who were nabbed. The question is clear - why the Delhi Police had faith in the majority and the Mumbai police did not? Why we look at things with a bias?

When Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said that meting out justice in Gujarat would have prevented these terror attacks, he was blamed for playing politics but in the Mumbai case no politically-motivated blames are being levelled. Remember the Gujarat encounters. Banjara is still in jail and paying for those encounters while Modi is enjoying power. Time alone will tell who will reap the benefits arising from the Maharashtra incidents.

The Home Minister of Maharashtra was very furious, promising ‘a bullet for every bullet’. But the same Minister was not furious when North Indians were killed and tortured by the MNS men. Is it not another instance of Marathi crime versus Bihari crime? It is very clear that things would have been better if those in power had nipped the problem in the bud.

There is another snippet of news that stands out these days. Every news channel seems to be happy over using the phrase ‘Hindu terrorist’, as if before the Malegaon incident, no Hindu figured in terrorism. As if those working in Orissa, Assam or Gujarat were all saints. Ask Bashir Badra, the noted Urdu poet. He will tell you there is nothing wrong in Hindu terror as it is just an answer to Muslim terror. He said as much on the Ayodhya case recently. It was reported on the Internet edition of a news magazine, “Rawiwar”. Badra is not wrong. Some people are still invoking the barbaric tit-for-tat mindset. The same mindset was in evidence in Delhi in 1984, Ayodhya in 1992, Mumbai in 1993 and Gujarat in 2002. Sadly there is no termination of such a mindset and problems are growing faster than ever. Courts will decide the fate of each and every person arrested as terror suspect but till then we have time to think. Do we desire Atifs and Pragyas or Amartya Sens and Kalams?

.A terrorist is always a terrorist irrespective ism but why government should take so much time to take action and advetise the action initiated. to day i have read in pakistan news how they are dare enough in taking action govind
.death is death whether delivered by bullet of police or ball bearings of a bomb. Both deaths are questionable.Unless the root cause is not corrected the problem will persist and few people will reap the benefit. After all vultures are also the part of the nature's design. You keep on shouting but two wrongs donot addup to make one right, they are still wrong
.Rahul and batla house were not same there were differences
.Is it possible for every one to rise above small thinking to be better indian
.we need to take each issue in parity
.I believe the real face of indian 'civilization' is showing up creating discomfiture to the natinalistic mafia which is responsible for all the atrocities in this 'nation' because of its rigid mindset conditioned over many centuries of pracice. The end result of this may be the break up of this 'mighty civilized nation' sometime in the near future in to many nationalities like 'punjab' 'andhra' 'maharashtra' etc. And if we cannot ensure justice in the new dispensation it would be proper to consider break away nations like what happened in USSR in the nineties.HUMAN RIGHTS is the true bedrock of any civilization.Jingoistic slogans and creeping violence with state machinery collusion is to be condemned by all who vale humanity than anything else.

.A really thought provoking
.The fact that comparisons are made to justify one point of view in itself has its drawbacks. The contextual references of each case are forgotten and extended logic is applied to further one point of view. The fact that every Citizen Journalist can express his/her opinion in India is an example of freedom each of us enjoy in this country. Could diverse opinions would have been possible in autocratic / communist countries? Ponder for a moment and you know the answers. Why play the blame game?
.Very good article. It's true what you are saying.
.I think the author of this article is missing a point here. We need to take all the incidents around the Batla house and the Rahul Raj case into consideration before jumping the guns and saying... oh what would have happened if it was X.Y.Z intead of Rahul Raj. The whole country witnessed a series of bomb blasts before the Batla house case. Which explains why those killed and nabbed in the Batla house were either terrorists themselves or closely related to the terrorists. There are more than 12 crore muslims in India. The government doesn't go to harrass every single one of them. Exactly the same goes for hindus, Rahul Raj got killed because he tried to hijack the bus. Regardless of your religion and cast, you should be punished if you are committing a crime or trying to hurt innocent people. Stop trying to turn a simple crime story into a communal melo-drama. It is people like you who jeopardize the furute, security and integrity of our great country. Mother India. Jai Hind....
