IT WAS a good day for Chelsea in their last FA Cup match against Queens Park Rangers, as they turned out to be triumphant with a score line of 1-0. The lone goal was scored by the Juan Mata from the penalty spot. But, all was not rosy during the match. Ramires, one of their key players was stretchered off during the second half. No one knew about the magnitude of the injury at that instance.
Hence, on Sunday, when an MRI scan was conducted, it was revealed that the player suffered a medial ligament injury to his right knee, reported the BBC. It was a tough pill for Chelsea to swallow, as he could be out of action for around a month. Ramires has been a pivotal player for Chelsea, as he has been in Andre Boas plans for most of the matches. He has scored eight goals during the season.
With some major competitions such as FA Cup, Champions League and the ongoing Barclay Premier League in an important stage, it is a great setback for Chelsea, who has not looked very convincing too. They would be missing his services in some important games of the season, especially against Manchester United, Everton in the EPL and their match against Napoli in the Champions League, along with other matches.
To cheer up their fans, Chelsea have some good news, as Frank Lampard is expected to come out of an injury and looks fit to play in their next EPL match. No one knows where Chelsea would see themselves in various competitions, when Ramires comes back into the team.
