National English paper ‘The times of India ‘has said that the cyclone might be worse than ‘Hurricane Katrina’ which hit the Florida coast of USA in 2005, but here the IMD says the cyclone is not a super cyclone but the severity is much high. The Odisha had experienced the Super Cyclone which took away not less than ten thousand lives in the year 1999 but now is well prepared to save the human lives because of well advanced information and technology. Likewise the Andhra coast also had an experience in the year 1977 when a severe cyclone hit the Krishna district damaged coast heavily and also the death of more than ten thousand human being besides lakhs of live stock.
The two states are now ready to face the any eventuality occurs due to cyclone but to see how far they succeed the control the human loss.
In view of the seriousness Andhra Pradesh Electricity employees have resumed their duties and revenue officials have alerted at their assignments given by the higher officials. The Collectors of all coastal districts have opened the control rooms and ready evacuation of people if it necessitates.
In Odisha also the all coastal district collectors have taken up the responsibilities and evacuation has been on already.
The affected districts in Odisha are Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur and in Andhara Pradesh the districts are Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and the East and West Godavari districts, Krishana, Prakasma and Nellore.
The severe cyclonic storm is being moved from central Bay of Bengal towards westward direction and may cross the coast between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam on Saturday evening. The tidal waves are more than 2.5 meters and wind speed will be 210 and 250 kilometers.
The authorities have asked the fishermen not to venture in the sea and cooperate with the officials during the evacuation and other relief activities.
Already in many places of Andhra Coast are recording heavy rains and farmers are feared that it may damage the matured the standing crops particularly paddy and cotton.
Both the state Governments have been readied with the Swimmers, helicopters and other aides.
