'Sex is our fundamental right, no one has the right to breach anyone's privacy,' says Jignesh Mevani on Hardik Patel's alleged sex clip
After Hardik Patel's alleged sex video on Monday afternoon became viral on social media showing the Gujarat Patidar leader spending private moments with a woman in a hotel room, Jignesh Mevani, who is a social activist and Dalit leader in the state has come out in his support.

Citing 'right to have sex', Mevani said that Patel has nothing to be ashamed of as adultery is not a crime.

On Monday night, the 34-year-old young politician, who is a lawyer by profession, tweeted: "Dear Hardik Patel, don't worry. I m with you. And right to sex is a fundamental right. No one has right to breach your privacy."

The alleged clip appears to have been filmed in a hotel on May 16, 2017 that shows a person resembling Hardik in a compromising position with an unidentified woman.

According to media reports the video was uploaded on social media by some YouTube channels. Notably, barely a month is left for Gujarat legislative assembly elections which are scheduled to be held on December 9 and 14 respectively.

Blaming the BJP for the sex clip that purportedly shows him, the 24-year-old Patidar leader said, "The fake video not just defames him but also insults the women of Gujarat."

Taking a dig at BJP, he also said that the sex CD seems as a big conspiracy of the party which is a perfect example of their "dirty politics." Hardik, who is the prominent face and leader of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), further added that the BJP would release many more such "morphed" videos to defame him in view of getting political mileage ahead of Gujarat polls.

On the other hand, former PAAS convener Ashwin Patel alleged that Hardik had exploited several girls.

"I separated from Hardik as he exploited several girls, including a Patidar one. Hardik's aides from Surat, Morbi and Rajkot also exploited girls," Ashwin was quoted as alleging by The Times of India.

He further claimed, "Hardik came to me in Delhi in 2015 with a girl claiming her to be his wife. He went to Manali and I have all the records and audio clips. If Hardik will not clarify now, I will produce the records in next four days."

"The BJP has nothing to do with the sex CD. We don't indulge in such dirty games. But if Hardik Patel says it's a fake video, why doesn't he file a police complaint?" asked BJP leader and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
