Sexual orientation of cardinals behind Pope's resignation
A newspaper story has attributed the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI to the revelation of a network of gay prelates in the Vatican. The story published by the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica has come out with this conspiracy theory regarding the Pope's resignation.

The Italian paper has hinted that the Pope might have resigned due to a secretive "gay lobby" within the Vatican. That is what Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica suspects.

According to La Repubblica story, the Pope has not resigned owing to ill health rather he took the decision on 17 December to resign after having received a dossier compiled by three cardinals regarding the so-called "Vatileaks" affair which has purportedly commented on the sexual orientation of cardinals.

One may recall that some time ago, Pope Benedict's butler, Paolo Gabriele, was arrested and charged with having stolen and leaked papal correspondence that depicted the Vatican had become a hot-bed of intrigue and infighting. Now, the newspaper has hinted that the cardinals have a number of factions, including one whose members were ‘united by sexual orientation’.

La Repubblica has reported that the dossier submitted to the Pope in two volumes seemingly has been put in a safe in the papal apartments and would be most likely delivered to the Pope's successor upon his election to take decision.
