King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan will be the star attraction for Delhi Half Marathon, others who are expected to run include former iron lady of police department Kiran Bedi, Ajay Bijli of Priya Cinema, actor Purab Kohi and industrialist Amit Burman.

WITH ONLY three days to go, are you ready for the biggest sporting event of the year 2009-Airtel Delhi Half Marathon?

World’s one of the most renowned and country’s premier event, Airtel Delhi Half Marathon will take place on November 1 (Sunday), 2009, with celebrities from the world of cinema, sports and politics gracing the event to boost the participants. The event, which started in the year 2005 has switched sides from one sponsor to another. Earlier it was sponsored by Hutch and Vodafone, last year another telecom giant Airtel took its mantle and this year in its fifth edition it will be Airtel once again sponsoring the event. Although the Delhi Half Marathon is still in its nascent stage but owing to its success, it has been accredited IAAF Road Race Gold Label for the year 2009 event.

As usual, this year also the event will attract many big names from Bollywood, last year the event saw charming and sultry diva of silver screen Kareena Kapoor participating in the event with beau Saif Ali Khan who himself has big fan following. King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan will be the star attraction for the event, others who are expected to run include former iron lady of police department Kiran Bedi, Ajay Bijli of Priya Cinema, actor Purab Kohi and industrialist Amit Burman from Dabur group of companies.

This year, the organizer of the mega event has made it mandatory to wear timing chip for the main race category, half marathon. The colourful event will witness participants in other categories as well, including corporate sporting challenge, Kingfisher run in Costume, Senior Citizen’s Run, Great Delhi Run and Wheelchair Event. For goodie bag and Bib numbers those who have registered for the event can visit DLF Shopping Mall at Saket from 28 October to 31. The 2009 Delhi Half Marathon will be a special event for me as I will be participating in the event for the third time in a row.
