Shanbagh case a question on Indian legal system
How long do we need evidences against the people who deteriorated a human to a living corpse or a terrorist whom whole nation have seen firing on national television still Indian legal system is liberal enough to give him a lawyer .
FINALLY, THE Indian legal system has realised that too keep somebody alive against his/her wish is not human. Especially in the case when there is no ray of hope. This was in the context of the news about Aruna Shanbagh, a rape victim of a 1973 case.

The thing that strikes me the most was that the rapist was jailed for just seven years and that too on charges of attempted murder and robbing victim’s earrings. And currently he is working in some hospital.

A girl was inhumanely insanely brutalised and left so mentally and physically traumatised that she went into a coma. And the person who is responsible for this is just jailed for seven years? He is currently leading a normal life. Is this what you call justice? Should the Indian legal system not give him a stricter sentence like life imprisonment or death.

The only thing which I want to ask is –what kind of justice is this? What kind of legal system do we have? And don’t you all agree with me when I say we need to think about our system and change it?

really thought proving stuff..well written mudita....hopefully the powers that be are listening
Really a nice article and we must realize that our Indian legal system should be revised now. We should implement a bill in Parliamentary to change the whole legislation system and besides the administration system because in our country a simple constable even behave like a magistrate and this way tampering and manipulation of evidences of crimes have become easy. We must go for change now.
Today we can't wait for 5 sec. on our mobile, and the lady waited years for justice. India struggled 200 years to get independence and we woman are waiting since 2000 yrs to be independent. This kind of articel shows how women are suffering in a country where they are prayed as godess. Thnks Mudita for insighting on such an issues.
