Sharda University to increase MBBS seats to 150
Sharda University will increase the number of MBBS Seats on offer to 150 after Delhi High Court approved the petition filed by Sharda University. Presently, the University admits 100 students for its MBBS programme.

THE SCHOOL of Medical Science & Research of Sharda University, along with two other medical institutions had applied for granting the permission for 150 students for the session 2011-2012 in June this year. The Delhi High court has permitted these institutions to increase the number of MBBS seats by 50. Hence, now the intake of MBBS students would be of 150 in these institutions.

The Medical Council India (MCI) limits the seat availability considering different aspects such as infrastructure, number of teaching beds, OPD strength, and bed occupancy, etc. Only after considering these points, the permission has been granted.

Speaking on this achievement of Sharda University P.K. Gupta, Chancellor, Sharda University, said, “We are extremely happy with the development. Initially, we were granted permission for starting the medical college for 100 students and the subsequent renewals followed. Now, we wanted to increase the number of seats in light of our advanced infrastructure. After the permission of High Court, we can provide more opportunities to our students.”

Sharda University’s medical college is one of the leading colleges in Delhi-NCR and offerslearning opportunities to the students apart from offering other advantages such as good connectivity with Delhi. The students learn under the guidance of renowned faculty from prestigious institutions such as AIIMS, Lady Harding Medical College and Maulana Azad Medical College. In addition, there is a 750 bed super-specialty hospital within the campus that provides unmatchable learning experience to medical students.

Sharda University, established as a private state university in Greater Noida through the U.P. State Legislative Act in 2009, and approved by UGC, has a multi-discipline campus spread over 63 acres.
