Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, gave away the Academic Excellence Awards to meritorious students of Dilshad Garden at a function held at her residence on November 24. She informed the gathering that her government is making efforts to provide quality education to all in accordance with the mandate of Right to Education (RTE) Act.
AT THE award function, Sheila Dikshit said that new schools will be opened across the capital and the existing schools will be optimally utilized. She appreciated the efforts of teachers for character building of students and nation building by preparing better citizens. She expressed her happiness for the schools attaining a pass percentage of over 90.
According to Dikshit, in order to achieve overall development of students, it is necessary to make use of modern technologies like video cassettes, smart classrooms, electronic media and interactive teaching.
However, many educators feel that the nation has the resources to formulate an efficient education policy, but inequality in distribution of resources and poor utilization of existing resources remains the main causes of concern.
