Journalists who had gathered to hear Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit had to be advised by her to observe discipline. Since she could not make herself heard above the din that the journalists had raised, she decided against addressing them.
THE JUBILANT chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit had to yell, “Please observe discipline!” to an army of journalist. After the remarkable victory of the Congress at the recent Delhi assembly elections, the journalists had gathered at her house to hear her. However, the strident prattling of the journalist prevented the CM from addressing them.
The CM further said, “I am shouting and you are also shouting. Who can speak in this atmosphere?” Later, she expressed her gratitude to the people for reposing faith in her party and voting it back to power. She added that her party would work harder and come up to their expectations. This will be the third five-year term for the Congress government in Delhi. However, when enquired about the possibility of her being sworn in as the next chief minister, she parried the query by saying, “Let’s see; it is the party high command that will take a call on it.”
Celebrations were on at Dikshit’s official residence at 3, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, as party workers thronged the place to celebrate the party’s triumph. Karan Singh, senior Congress leader, was amongst the first to drive to Dikshit’s residence and congratulate her.
