Actor Shiney Ahuja will get out of the jail today after spending nearly four months behind the bars. Shiney has been accused of allegedly raping his maid at his residence and was arrested by Oshiwara police after a complaint was lodged against him.
AFTER SPENDING four months in jail for being accused of the rape of his domestic help, actor shiney Ahuja is setting foot out today after acquiring bail.
His last two pleas for bail were rejected. This time however, he has been asked to pay Rs 50,000 as surety. Once that formality is complete, he would be released.
Amongst the restrictions that have been imposed on him, he will be surrendering his passport, so that he is unable to leave the country prior to permission from the authorities. Apart from that, he would have to report back to a police station in Delhi every two weeks.
Justice AP Deshpande, who granted bail to Shiney has explained his decision by saying that, "There are two aspects in such cases - an accused may try to flee or tamper with the evidence. In this case, since he is a permanent resident of Mumbai, he may not try to flee and to ensure that there is no tampering of evidence, certain conditions must be put."
The actor's defense has been that there was only consensual sex that took place, no forced sex.
