Shocking: Class XII Haryana student shoots dead school principal
In a shocking incident on Saturday, a class XII student in Haryana's Yamunanagar allegedly shot dead his school principal by firing four shots at her from a .32 bore revolver, as per a PTI report.

The police said, "The accused student fired four shots at Swami Vivekanand School principal Ritu Chhabra, who was in her office, with a .32 bore gun and critically injured her."

DSP Des Raj was quoted by PTI as saying, "47-year-old Chhabra was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries."

According to sources, the student was upset with the principal for rusticating him from the school.

The four bullets hit her in the abdomen and shoulder, Yamunanagar SP Rajesh Kalia told PTI.

He said, "After shooting the school principal, the 18-year-old commerce student tried to flee. However, a couple of parents, who were present for the parents-teachers meet in the school premises, caught hold of him with the help of locals."

As per initial investigations, the accused student has told the police that he was miffed at the principal for allegedly reprimanding him a couple of times.

The SP said, "He had a grudge against the school principal for reprimanding him few times in front of his class mates on the complaint of teachers."

Police investigation has revealed that accused had stolen his father's licensed revolver from a wooden cupboard at his home. The accused student's father is a financer and landlord in Yamunanagar.

The incident took place between 11.30 am and 12 noon on Saturday, after which the student was taken into custody and booked under section 302 of the IPC. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow.
